HISTORY

The LaGrange Theatre has been entertaining movie-goers for over 80 years.

Built in 1925, the LaGrange Theatre was originally a live theatre bringing the most popular acts of that time to LaGrange.

As the entertainment industry changed, the theatre was converted to motion pictures in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s.

In 1984, the theatre was split into 2 screens. In 1988, a third screen was added and finally a fourth screen in 1994.

In 2004, the theatre was purchased with a vision to clean up and renovate the theatre into a unique and fresh experience...an experience that the local community could be proud of and support. The cornerstone of this experience will be the friendly, customer-oriented staff that will be ready to serve you.

The downtown theatre is an important part of the local community and, with the improvement plan already under way, the theatre’s place in LaGrange and in the western suburbs will be solidified for years. The beginning stages of the work involving two of the four viewing rooms will be completed by mid-June 2006. The main focus of the work has been to improve the seats and the sound. Each room has a unique theme and unique décor to add to the experience. The remainder of the project will be completed, including the lobby and restrooms, by early 2007. More details of the plans will be posted on this site soon.

We appreciate your patronage in the past, and we are looking forward to serving and entertaining you for years to come. We are certain that you will like our changes and improvements, and the value of our entertaining experience will be second to none. If there is anything we can do to better serve you, let us know.
